Solids Handling Pump

Kingda solids handling pump is designed for the harshest environments, the optimized wide fluid passage ensures no clogging, even with large solids or sharp gravel.

Understanding What is a Solids Handling Pump?

Solids handling pumps are specialized pumps designed for conveying fluids containing solid particles. They typically feature wide flow paths and large inlet and outlet diameters to prevent clogging.

To prevent abrasive wear on the pump body caused by solid particles in slurries, such as mud, ore slurry, fly ash, gravel, and sewage, solids handling pumps are typically constructed of wear-resistant alloys, significantly extending the pump’s service life.

Solids handling pumps are widely used in industries such as mining, dredging, and wastewater treatment. They withstand the abrasive and corrosive effects of slurries, which are difficult for traditional pumps to resist, minimizing the risk of clogging and corrosion.

Solids-Handling-Pumps

Discover how Kingda solids handling pumps can handle the most demanding applications. With a large-diameter impeller design and wide fluid passages, we eliminate clogging and can handle solids up to 400mm in diameter.

The advanced sealing system features independent self-cleaning and filtration systems, ensuring the seal remains permanently clean. This eliminates pump leaks caused by abrasive or corrosive fluids.

Why Choose Kingda Solids Handling Pump?

The Problems with Traditional Pumps

Clogging

Traditional pumps are prone to inlet and impeller clogging when pumping fluids containing solid particles or viscous fluids.

Rapid Wear

Ordinary metal materials are difficult to withstand the abrasive effects of sand or gravel for long periods of time.

High Cost of Use

Frequent replacement of vulnerable pump parts not only increases costs but also consumes significant maintenance time.

Seal Leakage

Pump leakage is a common problem, and traditional pumps are unable to withstand the high-speed impact of slurry for long periods of time.

Low Efficiency

When the solids content in the fluid increases, the pumping efficiency of traditional pumps is significantly reduced.

For this project, we designed a comprehensive and efficient fluid delivery system for a subway tunnel boring machine (TBM), enabling the extraction of high-solids slurry from vertical shafts nearly 100 meters deep.

A Booster Station was installed at the bottom of the deep shaft. By monitoring the pump’s real-time flow rate, it provides stable pressure throughout the entire pumping and delivery system, keeping the delivery system in optimal condition and enabling ultra-long-distance, high-pressure delivery.

Applications of Solids Handling Pumps

Sewage treatment

Sewage contains large amounts of household garbage and plant debris. Solids handling pumps can smoothly transport these solids without clogging.

Food waste

The waste generated during food processing contains large amounts of viscous slurries and oils, making it difficult for traditional pumps to transport these slurries.

Paper mills

The pulp produced during the papermaking process contains large amounts of fiber, which can easily cause impeller clogging. Solids handling pumps can effectively prevent clogging.

Mining

The mining industry uses large amounts of slurries containing solids, including sharp, hard gravel. Traditional pumps can barely withstand the impact of these gravel.

Mining beneficiation

Mining beneficiation uses large amounts of chemicals, which are not only abrasive but also corrosive.

Industrial wastewater

Many industrial processes generate large amounts of wastewater containing sand and fly ash. Solids handling pumps can effectively treat this wastewater.

Dredging

Dredging requires pumping large amounts of silt and seawater. Solids handling pumps can not only handle silt but also prevent seawater from corroding equipment.

Dewatering

Solids handling pumps are widely used in mining, municipal administration, and factories for drainage, such as sumps in mines, wastewater in mines, and dewatering in flood disasters.

Solids Handling Dewatering Pump Packages

Kingda solids handling dewatering pump packages are not just a single pump, but a complete delivery system. They can be installed in both fixed and mobile configurations.

Solids handling dewatering pump packages include a solids handling pump, a drive system (electric motor or diesel engine), piping equipment (inlet and outlet pipes, valves), a control system (PLC control cabinet, remote monitoring system), and a base (fixed or mobile).

The Kingda dredge pump is constructed from ultra-wear-resistant metal. Its large inlet and outlet diameters ensure no clogging and can handle solid particles up to 400mm in diameter—an incredible feat.

The metal impeller is constructed from high-chromium alloy, offering exceptional abrasion and corrosion resistance. When sharp, hard gravel or sand impacts the metal surface at high speed, the impeller withstands the impact with exceptional resilience.

Types of Solids Handling Pumps

Centrifugal Pumps: Centrifugal pumps are one of the most common types of solids handling pumps. They use the rotating impeller to generate centrifugal force, drawing slurries into the pump. They are often used for high-flow applications and feature a simple structure and easy maintenance.

Shredder Pumps: Shredder pumps incorporate a cutting blade mechanism to shred long fibers, solids, and plant debris in liquids, effectively preventing clogging.

Screw Pumps: Screw pumps propel slurries through a sealed chamber formed by the stator and rotor within the pump. They are suitable for slurries with relatively high viscosities and concentrations.

Submersible Pumps: Submersible pumps feature an integrated motor and pump design, resulting in efficient operation and a compact design that allows them to be submerged in water. They are widely used in sumps and mines.
